From concept to first draft in 23 days: This intensive seminar guides you from your first idea to the first draft of your feature film screenplay in 23 days. It is divided into two modules: 3 days to test and deepen your concept, as well as
find the structure of your screenplay, followed by 20 days of writing the screenplay.
The seminar introduces and elaborates essential writing tools and offers hands-on advice from three experienced professionals, who help you navigate your writing journey all the way to the first draft.

To make it easier for participants from outside Munich to take part in the course, it will be held on a hybrid basis:
July 27 – 29: The first three days will take place at the HFF, but there is also an option to attend via Zoom. However, on-site attendance is definitely recommended.
September 7 – 26: The first 15 days via Zoom.
September 28 –  October 2: Final week at the HFF (in person).

Important: The seminar combines theory instruction with writing sprints and Writers’ Room feedback in the group each day. Attendance is essential for all 23 days – via Zoom and on-site.
Suitable for beginners and professionals. For brand-new ideas as well as for concepts you’ve wanted to write for a long time.

WORKSHOP LEADERS

Florian Puchert

Florian Puchert

Born and raised in Germany, Florian Puchert made his way into the film and TV business by first interning and later working for Munich-based production company K5 Film as a junior producer.
Later he quit producing and started writing and directing short films, music videos and industry films, while working as a 1st AD, reader and consultant. His short films screened at over 120 festivals worldwide and won several awards.
His most recent writing credits include writing on the international thriller series DIGNITY (2019-2020) for German streamer Joyn and the mini-series UNSERE WUNDERBAREN JAHRE (2020) for German broadcaster ARD. He’s currently developing several TV drama series and feature films and directed a documentary feature.

Romina Ecker

Romina Ecker

After studying history and political science at the LMU München, Romina began to study screenwriting at the HFF München (Munich school for Television an Film), where she graduated in 2020. During her studies her short films have been televised and won awards at various festivals. In 2015 she was nominated for the Fox New Talent Award at the Berlinale. Romina has been working as a freelance writer for film and TV since 2018. She was a writer on the teen crime series Echos (Joyn). Other projects include episodes of the series Fett & Fett (ZDF) and Breaking Even (ZDF Neo). She most recently was the head writer of the comedy series I don’t work here (ZDF Neo, 2023) and is currently working on various series and films.

Benedikt Schwarzer

Benedikt Schwarzer

Benedikt Schwarzer, born in 1987 in Benediktbeuern. He initially worked as a photo designer, before going on to study at the University of Television and Film Munich.
His films have been screened at national and international festivals such as DOK.fest Munich, Film Festival Cologne and CAMERIMAGE. His films have been nominated for the German Documentary Film Award, the Studio Hamburg Young Talent Award, the German Metropolis Directing Award, the German Human Rights Film Award and the German Short Film Award. Winner of the City of Munich Starter Film Award, the nonfiktionale Award and the ARRI pitch.award. Recipient of the Landsberg am Lech District Cultural Promotion Award.
